Food Review: Cream City Cluckery

If you’re a Bucks fan, from Milwaukee, and you like chicken, chances are you may have heard of Cream City Cluckery – a delivery and pick-up only restaurant located in Deer District that just opened up in the summer 2020.

If not, that’s ok, I didn’t either until perusing Instagram.

If you haven’t had the chance to get your hands on some of their food, let me give you a few good reasons to check them out. Below is my review of Cream City Cluckery!

Where do I start…

Well, I basically had one of everything on their menu…so I should be able to provide a pretty good review of their entire menu for you! 😉 Pictured below: the smorgasbord in all it’s glory.

Let’s start with the chicken. Because, chicken.

Well, what can I say, we had chicken in pretty much any way you’d eat it – in a sandwich, as tenders, and as wings. Each were delicious and had the handmade dipping sauce of your poison.

I admit, I was a bit skeptical on how good the wings or “naked tendies” as they call them would be, but they were surprisingly good and well marinated with a very light “spice” to them. Just the way I prefer! You can also get them without the buffalo sauce, if that is your preference, though.

As for the sandwich, the only drawback with the sandwich is you could see that they were just the tenders on top of the bun. We would have preferred it was just a whole chicken breast, but it was still good nonetheless.

The tenders themselves were crispy and flavorful, so no complaints there and you can get them with the homemade ranch, honey mustard, or comeback sauce.

Next up we have the sides, which were tator tots, honey butter biscuits, and macaroni.

As you might expect, there’s not much to a tator tot, so you really can’t get it wrong (unless you make them too soggy or burn them). These were perfectly crispy and Napoleon Dynamite approved 😉

The honey butter biscuits were absolutely AMAZING. Perfectly buttery with a hint of honey. Definitely a force to be reckoned with as far as adhering to a diet and not craving these!

And lastly for the sides was the mac n cheese. We enjoyed the mac n cheese and it was made cheesy enough where it wouldn’t disappoint. The only thing we’d wished was that there was a little less breadcrumbs on top, but that is also personal preference. It didn’t make or break it, but if I order again, I’ll be getting it without or with a small hint of crumbs.

And finally, the dessert. The ooey, gooey, butter cake!!

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this was very rich and very tasty! As you can see there are hints of butterscotch (I believe?) Either way, it reminded me of a blonde brownie, but cake-like. I barely had time to take more than two bites as my boyfriend was busy wolfing it down!

All in all my boyfriend and I very much enjoyed Cream City Cluckery and are excited for the next chance to have it again. I’ll definitely have to get my hands on the butter cake first when that happens!

Something to note as far as picking up your food (which we did), is to wait outside by their sidewalk sign right between Good City Brewing and Carsons. When their website said that it was located there, upon arriving, I was expecting a building (you can tell I only read part of their website…sigh). When waiting for them to run the order out after letting them know we arrived, we finally put two and two together by recalling walking past a little sidewalk sign they had and their website saying it was in between the two places. Just fair warning in case you’re an ADD reader like me to save you some trouble!
